Intruder Alarms

Where you have no desire to have your home uprooted to run cables, messing with your decor, we can fit high quality wireless systems that require only a mains supply and possibly a telephone line if you don’t wish to take advantage of GSM or IP LAN systems to monitor your system.

We also provide a range of communicator devices such as BT Redcare, Redcare GSM, along with Dulacom from CSL and Digiair

Monitoring of your alarm system can be carried out remotely via our connections to alarm monitoring centres around the country or if you prefer it, we can fit speech diallers to your systems that cut out the middleman and the annual monitoring charges.

We would advise that the minimum specification of alarm you install has at least a speech dialler that upon activation can call you, your designated key holders, friends or family – numbers which can easily be -reprogrammed by you as your needs and circumstances change.

MMV Contracting Limited offer a range of intruder alarms from basic hardwired domestic systems through to full featured hard-wired systems for your home or business. With wireless alarms from Visonic and Pyronix, just about any scenario of installation can be provided (except police response, see below).

We use only recognised quality manufacturers of systems and devices, names such as Eaton (formerly Menvier & Scantronic), Pyronix, Optex, Texecom, Visonic, utilising the best products from their offerings that closely matches our clients’ needs and budgets.

We currently do not offer Police Response Alarms as part of our service, unless you have a real need or are pressed into it by an insurance company and the risk justifies this course of action, we would avoid them as they are

  • More expensive to install due to the design requirement
  • More expensive to monitor again due to the design requirement
  • More expensive to maintain due to the insurer’s requirement
  • You MUST have a keyholder who can be on site within 20 minutes of the call being received
  • Outwardly to the intruder they would look no different to a non-police response alarm installation
  • There is no guarantee that even after you have paid out all the extra costs that you will actually get a police response – and it’s you who goes into the property first, not the police
  • False alarms can become expensive and are the route the police take to take you off their “response” service
  • After false alarms lose your status you will usually have to invest more money bringing the system “back up to standard”

REMEMBER, THERE ARE ONLY TWO PEOPLE INTERESTED OR CARE THAT YOUR BURGLAR ALARM HAS BEEN ACTIVATED

Research conducted by way of interviews by criminologists and post arrest interviews professionals over the years it has been found that most burglars (of those who expressed a preference) said that the desire to burgle a property was reduced if that property had a burglar alarm fitted. Although a monitored alarm is a very good deterrent in its own right everybody, you should also set out to achieve a minimum level of good quality physical security as well. In fact, the installation of physical security deterrence equipment should be your prime concern.

It’s all very well to have a state of the art alarm system, but if you are burgled and subsequently found to have missed locking a door or properly securing a window, you may find that your insurance company are not quite so understanding, remember your insurers will do everything they can to avoid paying out on a claim – as this affects their annual profits!
